Genesis Articles 2
Check out the list under the page titled "What Have You Been Taught In Church" and see what we were supposed to have been taught - first in the home and then at Church and schools.
Based on the condition of the world, it would appear that the vast majority is ignorant of the Genesis, Chapters 1-11 parts of Scripture. If you have been brought up with a knowledge of the Beginnings (B're'shith in Hebrew), count yourself blessed. I would encourage that every young person headed to or already in college as well as those still in high school know the Accounts of Genesis 1-11 in order to really understand their faith and be able to defend it when they hear and are taught views that are opposite of what the Scripture says. Christian parents, please familiarize yourselves with Genesis 1-11 also.
Why all the fuss about Genesis 1-11? The account of Abraham starts in Genesis 12 and very few Christians have doubts about him existing, his time frame on earth and the history of events from that chapter on. As a matter of fact, few Christians have doubts about the accuracy of the rest of the Bible from Genesis 12 even to the last verse.
Various forms of secular humanistic teaching have prevailed for many years and are taught in schools. These secular humanistic teachings go hand-in-hand with Darwinian Evolution. These beliefs are religion and the evolutionists don't want to hear that. Evolutionists are attacking Genesis 1-11 and on top of that are getting help from Christians that compromise the Scriptures. There are a surprising number of devout Christians, Pastors, Teachers, Laymen, etc. that think the earth is very old when there is not a shred of evidence. A plain straightforward reading of Genesis 1-3 for the Creation Account and the Fall of Man clearly reveals to the willing and wise reader that the earth is not old and furthermore was created in six 24-hour days with man created on day 6 in the Image and Likeness of Elohim with Elohim resting for the last seventh 24-hour day. According to the accurate genealogies in Genesis 1-11 the earth cannot be much over 6000 years old and possibly less. Those that would disagree are committing eisegesis (check out the article "Exegesis versus Eisegesis" under the Apologetics1 section of this website).
The major problem that many don't understand while believing in an "old earth" is - no death could have occurred before Adam sinned, otherwise, Christ's Sacrifice on the cross for our sins was wasted effort. If you read and really study Genesis 3 (pray first) and see that Elohim Himself killed for the first time ever the first animals (or nefesh chayah) as a blood sacrifice to cover the sins of Adam and Eve, then you should understand the reason for the first death and when it occurred, not that just any death any time happened.
God intended everything He created to last forever. How can I say that? Check Genesis 3 concerning the Fall of Man. When Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and disobeyed God's commandment, what happened? The commandment stated they were to die. If they were to die, then that must have meant that they were originally on track to live forever in a perfect Creation and they could have had the Garden of Eden as a home as well for eternity. We need to realize that God said everything was good (tov) on the first 5 days and very good (tov m'od) on day six (Genesis 1:31).
By careful reading of Chapter 3, we can have a much better understanding of the severity of sin. The account in Genesis 3 coupled with the Gospel message in the rest of the Bible are linked together. When we see the relationship between the Gospel of the New Testament and when the first sin occurred in the Perfect Garden of Eden, we can discover that the two accounts are not separate. Since the first sin occurred in the Garden ages ago, the Plan of Salvation had to be placed in affect right then - not later. There were Adam and Eve to consider for salvation and are we not any different today than they were then? It is as if we had taken the first bite of the forbidden fruit instead of them. What if you had lived at their time?
We should never keep the first eleven chapters of Genesis separate from the rest of the Bible. These Chapters are pure narrative historical events. Genesis falls under the genre of history. Refer to the article "Historical Narrative versus Poetic Sections of Scripture" under the Apologetics1 Page. When we first understand the origin of everything, the rest of Scripture becomes much more understandable. Scripture from Genesis is very clear that we come from a common ancestor Adam and Chauvah (Eve), the Mother of All Living.
* Did you know that Eve was the Mother of All Living (Genesis 3:20)?
To further state again, you will never really fully appreciate the rest of Scripture until you grasp the truth of the Beginnings (B're'shith). I firmly believe if you leave out the Beginnings (Chapters 1-11) or distort the Scripture of Genesis, you are missing the real blessing. Also, the consequences are very clear in Scripture itself for anyone who either adds to, takes away, distorts or willingly ignores any of the Scripture (Exegesis versus Eisegesis).
Now add in a study of the original Hebrew if you want Elohim to really bless you! For starters, Go to Hebrew for Christians, Learn the Names of God - Elohim, Adonai, etc.
I will publish a few verses here and there in the future with a little Hebrew, not too much for the average person (as I am also). You don't have to be a Hebrew Scholar to benefit from seeing the original language of Adam through the writings of Moses. You will never know what you are missing unless you are willing to understand Jewish History and the language. For example, Eber (and his son Peleg), a descendant of Noah four generations down in Noah's genealogical line of Jesus, is credited for maintaining the language of Hebrew circumventing the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11) where God confused the proud and arrogant people and caused many languages. See what you learn? These are absolute jewels of information. Refer to the "Age Chart Adam to Joseph" page in this website. You can also read Luke 3:23-38 for the entire line from Adam to Christ.
* Get yourself to the state where the more you learn, the more you want and you will surely develop a genuine love for all the Scriptures.
