What if?

What if you moved the earth in its orbit closer to the sun by 10000 miles?
What if you changed the winter to summer tilt of the earth by 45 degrees each?
What if you moved the moon in its orbit 10000 miles closer to the earth?
What if you removed 10% of the earth’s mass?
What if you changed the earth’s rotational speed by 1000 miles an hour up or down?

Would These Changes have any Effect?

These are just some general questions with arbitrary figures. Would any of these changes have a profound effect on the quality of life on earth? I would think so. We should realize that we are located in a perfect place in the solar system with all the proper conditions being met for a good standard of life on our planet. Do you suppose all this was by accident? I have not included all the conditions necessary to allow us to survive. There are literally innumerable other examples that could be listed here. Many examples don’t have to be applied to astronomical conditions only. The whole earth has its ecosystems that are finely balanced. Read Colossians 1:17.

Ex Nihilo

Before creation, nothing existed. God created everything from nothing which is called ex nihilo in Latin. Try making something yourself out of nothing. When you make something, you are using already created materials. In Genesis 1:1, God first created space, time, matter and energy. This is expressed in that very first verse of the Bible that God created in the beginning the heavens (plural word) and the earth (singular word). Matter is all of the elements we have on the Atomic Chart. I learned in Physics class that the definition of matter is that it has to have mass and occupy space. Space didn't exist before it was created and I’m not talking about outer space only. I am talking about dimensional space like we have on earth as well as outer space. Before creation nothing needed to be measured and could not be measured. This is what we mean by the word distance. Distance is not unique to simply taking a trip somewhere. Distance applies to the smallest measurement found in an atom to the largest measurement to the end of the known universe.

So, the Earth and the Universe Came About by Accident Over Millions and Billions of Years?

I say no because the whole of creation is far too complex. There is an abundance of evidence of sudden and recent creation. All systems and parts of creation had to be completely in place for organisms to survive and flourish. A good example of fearful and wonderful complexity is revealed after a detailed study of the human body. The body’s marvelous complete design rules out any accident of creation. Even when we humans design some complex system we are using our intelligence. All individual parts of our design have to come together so it will function as intended. Good examples of systems range from machinery to automobiles to computers, etc. You cannot leave out some or all parts and stand back hoping the rest of the system will magically come together or even design itself even if you waited millions or billions of years. That would be absurd. You also cannot create order out of chaos. Should we just throw some hydrocarbons and the right amount of trace minerals into a bunch of ponds all over the earth and come back in 3 or 4 billions of years and see life or maybe even humans? Evolution needs millions and billions of years to hide their imaginary theory in.  I believe in an intelligent and all powerful Creator who did all this (John 1:1-4; Colossians 1:16).

The Creation Isn't so Perfect Anymore

His creation was originally perfect until sin entered through the disobedience of Adam and Eve (Genesis 3). That is why we see death, entropy, degradation, mutation and decay all over the creation. All of creation was affected by sin. The world was to remain perfect until the fall of man. Death did not enter the world until the fall of man. Evolution thrives on death of species while evolving from a lower form of life to a higher form. This would mean we had death, pain and suffering before Adam and Eve sinned. Romans 5:12 clearly and plainly states that death did not start until sin came into the world through Adam. Millions and billions of years are out. It doesn't work. Even the genealogies recorded in Genesis 5 and 11 don't allow for long ages (See - Age Chart Adam to Joseph).

Please don’t blame God (or Satan for that matter) for man’s sin otherwise you wouldn't be able to exercise your God-given will. See this article from Answers in Genesis called “Why Does God’s Creation Include Death and Suffering.”

Adam and Eve – the First Humans?

Adam was created whole and thoroughly fashioned from the elements (dust) of the earth by God (Genesis 2:7) and Eve was taken from Adam's side (Genesis 2:18-23). They were created as adults and then were given the command to be fruitful and multiply as well as fill the whole earth with their children “procreated through birth” (Genesis 2). Adam and Eve could not have been babies (they wouldn't be man and wife because we don’t marry as babies). A lower life form wouldn't understand marriage and God doesn't condone animal marriages (sound absurd?). Marriage is between one man and one woman just as we read in Genesis 2. God performed the first marriage by bring Eve to Adam when she was created (Genesis 22-23). As I was saying about the command to be fruitful and multiply, Adam and Eve were to reproduce (have children). God intended each marriage He sanctioned to be between one man and one woman. That is the example we have and are to follow that comes from the creation account in Genesis 2. Eve is "The Mother of all Living" in Genesis 3:20 – not some living. She was called this before any record of her having children by Adam. We also see that Adam and Eve brought sin into the world through their disobedience (Genesis 3). The first person to be born of a woman (Eve) is recorded in Genesis 4 and he was Cain. Cain was born in sin according to Psalm 51:5 and the rest us are born in sin also.

What About Spirits?

Spirits are non-material and they do not need space. Remember I said God created space. God is a spirit (Genesis 1:2; John 4:24). God has His Holy Spirit. He created the angels and us as spirits. We have a soul and a body that the angels do not have. The difference between us and angels is we are created in the Image and Likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Angels were created to serve God and to minister to us. No other living thing is created in His Image and Likeness as well. Animals have a soul and a body but lack a spirit. Time means nothing to God since He is eternal and time was created for us while we are on earth. The spirit world does not depend on time. To a spirit time doesn't matter.

This Fallen and Imperfect World Will be Restored Some Day

The heavens and earth will be fully restored to perfection at the end time and they will exist forever (Isaiah 65:17; Isaiah 66:22; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1). When each of us is created we become eternal and will exist forever. The question is where will you spend eternity (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10)?
