The Account of the Fall of Man and the Result of Sin in the World
Prelude:

The account of the fall of man is recorded in Genesis chapter 3. I have included chapter 4 about Cain killing Abel. Some of my views may be speculative and supplemental in nature but I try to base my ideas on human nature and my knowledge of what the Scriptures have to say about evil that comes from man and Satan. Please read these two chapters of Genesis and study them carefully. You don’t have to arrive at my conclusions entirely. I express truth based on God’s inerrant, inspired, truthful, accurate, historical Holy Word! I have written this article in a somewhat easy reading format. You can share it with your children as you like.

It all starts with the finish of Creation

Elohim had finished His Creation in six 24 hour days and stated all was “Very Good.” “Very Good” to Elohim meant “Perfect” because He is perfect. Elohim rested on the seventh day so that we could have our week. We need to work six days and rest on the seventh day which is called the Sabbath. He created time, space, matter and the angels. He created many living things on the earth and the final most important product of Elohim’s Creation was man. Adam and Eve were married in a ceremony performed by Yeshua. Adam and Eve could communicate and have fellowship with Yeshua in the beautiful Garden of Eden, their home on the earth.

All the earth was very beautiful, but the Garden of Eden was very special for Adam and Eve. They were told to have children and the earth was to be filled with many of their children. The animals were to have their children also and fill the earth. The animals weren't designed to communicate and have fellowship with Elohim or Yeshua; only Adam and Eve. This made Adam and Eve very special to Yeshua. Adam and Eve along with all the animals were expected to live forever in the Garden of Eden – they were never to die. They had all they needed to eat and the temperature was perfect for living conditions. There were all kinds of animals in the Garden, including dinosaurs. The dinosaurs would never harm them or any other living things. All living things including man ate vegetables and fruit and not each other. No death had ever occurred at this time and was not supposed to ever occur.

There were two special trees in the Garden of Eden. One was called “The Tree of Life” and the other “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.” Adam was told to not eat of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” and the day he ate of it, he would die.

There was another one of Elohim’s special creations in the Garden. His name was Lucifer and he was the highest ranking angel ever created by Elohim. I am thinking that Lucifer became a serpent (not quite like the snakes we have today – at least not yet) or that he inhabited the body of a serpent. At this stage of time, there was no fear and the serpent was not scary to them or to any other living creature. Lucifer, as a serpent, went to Eve and tempted her to eat of the forbidden fruit and she did. Eve gave the fruit to her husband and he ate of it also. Note that Adam didn't attempt to stop Eve from eating the fruit and he gobbled it down also. Adam and Eve didn't immediately die - they started a process of dying called entropy. This is like a decaying process. They began to age. There was a reasonable chance that Adam and Eve were equivalent to the age in their twenties. Their ages should never have changed. The Scripture tells us that Adam lived 930 years so they weren't killed by Elohim on the spot. Eve’s age is not given, but it is highly likely she lived long also. This is a classic example of the grace coming from Elohim by letting them live a very long life.

I am not really sure if Lucifer sinned first by tempting Eve after the seventh day, or when he, also after the seventh day, decided he would take over Elohim’s throne and sit on it. To me, it sounds like he went after the throne of Elohim first and then went after Adam and Eve when he failed and was thrown out of Heaven. The very first verse in the introduction of Genesis 3 reads that the serpent was the most crafty of Elohim’s created beasts of the field.

When Lucifer tried to sit on Elohim’s throne, He wanted to be like the Almighty Elohim. He was jealous of Yeshua and jealous of the attention He gave to Adam and Eve. His heart was filled with pride. He wanted everything for himself and total control of it. Lucifer convinced one third of the angels to go against Elohim. There was a war in Heaven and Lucifer and the rest of the angels with him were thrown down to the earth. Now we have Satan and the demons. We have all kinds of demons with varying powers. Satan has tremendous unbelievable power, but fortunately, he and his powerful demons are limited and controlled by Elohim. That doesn't mean he can’t attack us, tempt us, torment us, lie to us, lead us astray and cause all kinds of problems in the world. Never forget that Elohim remains in control at all times.

When Satan originally as Lucifer, convinced Eve first to sin and then Adam, he became the first murderer. They were to die and really, Adam and Eve in the same sense committed suicide (murder). He wants to murder and torture all of us that oppose him and believe in our Creator. The ones that oppose him are called Christians today. In ancient times, they were the true believers in The Elohim.

We already have Yeshua or Jesus Christ as our savior today. In Old Testament times, few had any real idea what to call the savior since they didn't know the name exactly as Jesus Christ. Some names are similar in spelling such as Joshua. They knew him as the one to come someday. Let me explain how they knew about a savior in the following paragraphs as the account of the fall of man continues.

Now we have Adam and Eve eating of the forbidden fruit from the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.” What did they do after disobeying Elohim? What would you have done? Try hard to put yourself in their place. Would you just shrug it off and act indifferently? Would you throw insults to Elohim? Would you say to Elohim, “I told you so! See, I didn't die?” Would you be very angry at Satan and blame him for everything? Would you feel a sudden uncomfortable change?

You have to step back and look at what was involved in the eating of this not so bad looking fruit. What was the name of that tree? Knowledge of Good and Evil, you answer. What does that mean? What Elohim was saying by naming it “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”, was He was giving Adam and Eve (mankind) a test and the ability to choose Him and obey Him. Elohim doesn't make human robots. He made Adam and Eve in His Own Image and Likeness, unlike anything else in His living creation. Elohim wants each and every one of us to allow Him to care for us just like He was taking care of Adam and Eve in the perfect Garden of Eden to start with. His plan was for us to still be individuals under His care. Elohim is a Loving Father even today. Adam and Eve had to be tested to verify their allegiance to Him. It was their decision to follow Him or their decision to try to do their own wills. Elohim said that the two of them became like Us knowing good and evil and they had to leave their beautiful home. Also they couldn't eat of the Tree of Life and live forever as sinners in the flesh. Isn't this typical of all of us? We want to be our own elohim and manage our own lives apart from The Creator Elohim.

Ok, how would you have reacted right after sinning? I can tell you how Adam and Eve reacted. They ran and hid from Elohim when He came looking for them in the afternoon (cool of the day). Adam answered Elohim when He called for him and said, “I hid myself, was afraid and naked.” Now how did Adam know he was naked all of a sudden? That was the question put to him by Elohim; "Who told you you were naked?"

Taunting from Satan?

I am inclined to believe that Satan had more to say to them than what was recorded right after they ate the fruit. That may be speculation, who can say? Satan likes to poke fun at, accuse us and torment us just like you see today – “Ha! Ha! Look at what you just did! You’re not so perfect anymore! You’re not as big a deal as you thought you were! You failed and made a mess of everything! What do you think of that? You better put some clothes on before Elohim gets here!” Please don’t try to make any more out of this because it is not in the Bible. I just have a feeling how Satan operates.

Immediately, the second question that Elohim asked Adam was if they ate of the forbidden fruit. Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent. At least she admitted she was deceived by the serpent which brings up another point. Just how powerful and how influential was this Lucifer? I don't think I would like to encounter him face-to-face today, that's for sure! Nobody wanted to admit directly that they ate of it. Nobody wants to admit their guilt. Always blame someone else. The woes and bad things are starting at this point. All earth and everything living will be affected from now on. See the page titled "When Man Fell, the Rest of the World Fell Also." for more clarification.

Elohim will deal with them in a perfect way with full justice, mercy and love. We have to remember that Elohim doesn't condemn people. We have an excellent way of condemning ourselves, even without the help of Satan and his fallen angels. All of Adam’s descendants will now be born in sin after the fall of man. No one will have a chance to be perfect as Adam and Eve once were. We, as Christians, will be restored to perfection after we get to Heaven..

Now what did Elohim do? I already said that He didn't strike them dead on the spot. Court was in session with Elohim as the Judge. The first order of business was to deal with Satan. After Adam was asked if he ate of the fruit and he accused Eve, He then asked Eve the same question and she accused the serpent. Elohim told the serpent that he was going to be conquered by a descendant of Eve (“seed of the woman” – there was only one woman so the meaning was clear it was Eve). Also, Satan as the serpent was to crawl on his belly and eat dust. This is symbolic that Satan was to go to and fro on the earth sneaking around and causing misery. We don’t know if snakes existed before the fall of man but this sure sounds like this is now a snake. The exact wording of the curse placed on Satan was that this offspring of the woman was to deliver a fatal wound to his head and that Satan would merely bruise the heel of the descendant of Eve. Can you guess who this descendant of Eve is? Would it be the first child that Eve has or would she have to wait and see? Adam and Eve at this point had no children – thank God. Could you imagine a child born while you are still perfect and then you decide to sin? That poor child might still be in a perfect state and see his or her parents fall into sin. Can you imagine how horrible that could have been? It is good that Adam and Eve had no children while they decided to have a party at the foot of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Elohim turned to Eve and said she would have problems and pain in childbirth (sounds like childbirth was to be easy originally – tell that to all the mothers out there). He also told her that she would desire her husband and he would rule over her. Next, Elohim turned to Adam and placed a curse on the very ground that produced food for them. Adam was to have difficulty providing for them while growing his own food. No more good food automatically provided from the plants and trees in the Garden of Eden. Thorns and thistles, not unlike what we experience today, were to cause him problems. Lastly, they were ejected from the Garden of Eden and had to live outside in the world. The world was not going to be the same anymore. It was to start the process of entropy and decaying along with death. They had to leave because of the Tree of Life was still in the Garden.

On the positive side, Elohim provided a way of atonement for the sins of Adam and Eve. Upon recognition for their shame and nakedness, He killed the first animal(s) (this is the first recording of anything dying ever) and used the skins to clothe them. Remember that no death had ever occurred prior to the fall of man. I suppose Elohim could have used plant material as the first clothing, however, this was His way of a substitutionary death (again, the first death recorded ever) to cover their and our sins. The death of an innocent animal was the only way Elohim was to be satisfied. We are redeemed by a blood sacrifice and that will lead ultimately to the blood sacrifice of Yeshua on the cross. There is no remission of sin without a sacrifice and the shedding of blood. You see, this all started in the Garden of Eden. This is the very beginning of events in the newly freshly made world that was provided for us. Elohim knew we could not meet His standards and we would fall someday starting as Adam and Eve sinning first. Remember, all of Adam’s and Eve’s descendants are born in sin.

All of this forgiving of sins had to be planned before the Creation of everything and He did that very planning!

Let me propose a twist to the fall of man. Think of what would have happened if only Eve had eaten of the fruit and not Adam (or vice-versa if you like). First, this probably would mean that they could not have any children. Quite frankly, I believe that their marriage relationship could have ended right then. What would be the condition of a child if it were possible to be born to an unequally yoked couple; especially when one was still perfect? Would the child be 1/2 sinful and the other half righteous? Would 1/2 of its body slowly decay while heading for death? Silly presumptions?

Another idea is what if Adam and Eve never sinned for a long time and had a child and the child sinned? I feel like they would eventually sin at some point in time anyway. That’s the way mankind is.

Now let’s consider what Adam was thinking when he let Eve give him the forbidden fruit and then he ate it. Adam was more interested in his wife than serving Elohim. Another way to put it is that he loved his gorgeous wife more than Elohim. What was Eve’s ambition in the first place to take the fruit? It was based on what Satan told her. Satan started a pack of lies to Eve by asking, “Did God really say that you could eat from any tree you wanted?” Elohim told Adam and Eve that they could eat of any tree (except the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil). This tree was not spelled out by Satan in his first question to Eve. This is a statement of half-truth that he gave to Eve as if to make her believe that she was being deprived while she remembered about the one tree to not eat from. Eve answered correctly that they could eat of any tree except the one they were commanded to not eat from. She added that they were not to touch it which Elohim never said to them. Satan continued on and made his blatant and bold statement as the first lie; “You really won’t die!” He was calling Elohim a liar. Satan went straight to the point of Eve’s desires. He added, “For the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like Elohim knowing good from evil!” Satan knew that she would want to be her own god and wise and those are the main themes of the temptation that was enticing to Eve. She wanted to be her own god. She wanted to be the ruler of her own life – the exact same sin that Satan committed in Heaven when he rebelled against Elohim. Every one of Adam and Eve’s offspring from that time on struggle with the same problem of wanting to ignore our Creator and manage our own lives without Him; some even to the point of willful arrogance, and atheism, but most just ignore God.

Satan was furious against Elohim when he was thrown out of Heaven. Immediately he started working on the most treasured thing of Elohim’s Perfect Creation, mankind, with the desire to destroy everything good. Satan is called the destroyer in 1 Corinthians 10:10. If he couldn't have everything, he wanted to destroy it all.

After a short time, Adam had relations with Eve and their first child was born. This child is Cain. The Hebrew Scripture reads that Eve said, “I have gotten a man-child, The Elohim.” This is in contrast to what many popular translations of the Bible say today. She definitely did not say, “I have gotten a man-child with the help of God.” The words with “the help of God” are not in the original text. The actual words about getting this man-child are "eth Elohim" and nothing else. Eth looks similar to the article "the" and, of course Elohim follows this word in the text to spell out the Elohim. This leads us to believe that Eve thought her very first child was to be the one to defeat Satan to get back to him for what he did in tempting her; never mind that Eve went along with Satan's desires. This child was to crush the head of the serpent and would only get a bruise on his heel. Maybe she was very excited about this “so-called conqueror” she just gave birth to; who can tell.

Things didn't turn out well for Eve. Not long after Cain was born, she had another child called Abel. Adam and Eve trained both of their sons in the ritual of bringing sacrifices to Elohim. Both Cain and Abel brought sacrifices to Elohim. Abel’s sacrifice was from the animals and Cain’s was from fruit and vegetables. Abel was in Animal Husbandry and Cain was a Farmer. Elohim accepted Abel’s offering and rejected Cain’s. Cain's offering did not follow the sacrifice of an innocent animal.

It would appear that Cain may have developed a superior attitude because his mother could have put this attitude into his mind thinking he was to be the Savior of mankind? Did Eve spoil him, or was he just bent on sin like the rest of us? He killed his brother in a jealous fit of rage over his sacrifice not being accepted by Elohim. Instead of raging against Elohim, he took it out against his brother. Does this sound familiar today how many blame the wrong person for something they did? He was the first murderer of one human killing another.

Cain was cursed by Elohim to be a wanderer. The ground was not to produce for him as before like his father Adam. He had to depart from the presence of Elohim. This separation from his Creator whether he realized it or not was the worst part of his punishment. He was also afraid to be killed by someone else who could hunt him down. He was a complainer and apparently didn't show any remorse for killing his brother. Elohim again showed grace to him by placing a mark on him so that no one would kill him. Elohim said that anyone who tried to kill Cain would suffer vengeance seven fold. Cain’s line of descendants was unrighteous from that point on as recorded in Genesis 4 with another murderer in the line. Also this murderer committed polygamy by marrying two women. What did Yeshua do in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve; only Adam and Eve? He married them as one man and one woman; not a man with two wives or a woman with two husbands. This also excludes two men or two women “marrying” or having relations with one another. The institution of marriage with one man and one woman all started in the Garden of Eden on day 6 of Creation right from the beginning. I wonder how many really know this. The idea of the proper way to marry did not come recently as some might wonder or from some concept of life in the later ages of Old Testament times or perhaps from the Victorian age. I imagine few realize how God planned this type of relationship between humans even before the world was created!

Cain took for him a wife. Where did he get his wife with so few people on the earth? It had to be one of his sisters or one of his nieces. Intermarriage was acceptable until it was forbidden to intermarry at the time of Moses. It is recorded in Leviticus chapter 18. The reason mankind had to stop intermarrying was because of DNA degradation and entropy. Mixing of genes through close relatives was becoming a problem that generally was causing mutations in the offspring. This is another example of Elohim taking care of His Creation. One thing that developed from the line of Cain are the abilities to play musical instruments, work with iron and bronze to the point of forging of these materials, to dwell in tents and keep livestock. This sounds like they advanced rapidly instead of the old tired sayings we hear today about primitive savage ancient man. This is what the evolutionists teach us in our classrooms and on the media!

A third child was born to Adam and Eve called Seth. Seth replaced Abel in the sense that Abel was previously considered righteous. From this point on, we have a righteous lineage coming out of Seth. The rest of the lineage from Seth takes us directly to Yeshua (Jesus Christ). The good thing that happened was when Seth had his son Enoch people began to call upon the name of the Lord! So Adam and Eve didn't do so badly with Seth! Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters the Scriptures say and some Hebrew Traditions say at least 50 or more- easy to do when you live more than 900 years.

The rest of Genesis from chapter 5 through 11 covers the events of the lineages or genealogies as they are called and the Tower of Babel. Please refer to my other website Know Your True Origins for details on our origins.

Conclusion:

Many don’t realize the seriousness of sin and how Elohim views it. I am convinced that we all need to go back to our beginnings in Genesis so that we can develop a more intense and full understanding of the problem of sin in our world and then review the New Testament and tie it all together. Many think that the Gospel of Salvation started with the New Testament and some think it started earlier in the Old Testament perhaps around the time of Abraham or maybe a little later. The Gospel started in the Garden of Eden and was planned by Elohim before He created anything. Christ is the Creator. Yeshua’s blood sacrifice on the cross for our sins was planned by Him from before the beginnings (Genesis or B’re’shith). This article was written to declare the Gospel in the Garden!
